It seems I am in a very bridal mood recently. Besides getting pictures from summer weddings of lovely clients wearing custom made dresses, I started looking around for what a wedding really is about – because it’s more than just the perfect dress.

And the best place to search for ideas and luxury wedding products and bridal gowns is David’s Bridal – the United States’ largest bridal retailer. When I first opened their website I was amazed by how much information you really need when you decide to organize your wedding. But fortunately their website is so very well structured, that I found what I was really looking for very quickly. I wanted to see lovely dresses – elegant through their timelessness and simplicity – and I immediately found what I was looking for:

For an elegant engagement party, the short strapless cocktail number is perfect. I would actually wear the above two dresses myself: the first one for the engagement party and the second one for the actual wedding. I just love how well they go together and it seems like a natural transition, from the short strapless piece with a lovely bow at the waist – to the long, strapless princess pleated dress to wear later on at the ceremony. And I am sure I would not change into another dress at night. Would you?

I also loved these elegant and understated strapless dresses. They are not very voluminous and very easy to wear, perfect for a breezy, sunny, summer wedding ceremony. There are actually a lot of young ladies who want to get married and who want to wear a simple and elegant dress and they are very frustrated because such a dress is hard to find. Most bridal retailers offer so many over the top, sparkly, voluminous, embellished wedding dresses and they seem to forget about the ladies who actually want to be able to walk, dance and feel good wearing their dress the whole night. I was glad to see that David’d Bridal is not one of them – you really can find everything you are looking for, no matter the style of dress you love to wear.

Another important aspect of dresses for weddings is that of the maids of honor: what do they wear? It all depends on how they look and what they feel comfortable wearing – they too should feel good in their dress and have a good time at the wedding. That is why I think it’s important to choose the color of their dresses, but not their styles. If each maid of honor wears another dress but in the same color, then the unity is kept while each can choose her own style. That is a classic win-win situation and I am sure you, as a bride to be, will be happy with the end result – your wedding pictures!

Last but not least, besides the wedding gowns that we talked about, I also loved these wedding clutches and small purses that can be a great accessory for a simple and elegant wedding dress. I actually also love the black clutch and remember seeing a dress that had a slim black waistband and small black bow at the waist or at the back of the dress – it would be such a great accessory for that kind of a dress.

The great thing about weddings and such celebrations is that you have so much freedom in choosing everything exactly as you like it – from flowers to dresses, invitation, reception, gifts and accessories that is can sometimes be overwhelming, but also easy when you know where to look!
