I ordered this book from Amazon Germany a couple of weeks ago (actually Florina placed the order) and I am so glad that it got to Romania just in time for my birthday, which is tomorrow, on the 15th February. I got the book after Mr. Octavian Coifan suggested that I have to have it. The book is huge and filled with info about the genius that was Madeleine Vionnet in bias-dress pattern cutting. The patterns inside are incredibly complex and sooo interesting at first glance, that I can’t wait to actually try and figure them out asap. The lovely draped dresses that are featured inside are actually fit for any red-carpet nowadays, which proves the timeless elegance of Vionnet’s designs. Very inspiring!

A huge surprise was Florina‘s gift for my birthday, a book about corsets. She knows how obsessed I am with them and she remembered when I told her about me wanting to create a luxe underwear collection with corsets and black lace panties. Some of the historical pieces featured in the book are a-m-a-z-i-n-g. We both swooned a lot over coffe this morning.

These books actually made me forget about Valentine’s Day and make me want to work all day, tomorrow. Yes, that is how I want to spend my birthday: working on pieces only for myself and my collection, for my own excitment. I’ll forget, even if only for one day, about clients, orders, paperwork,and so on. Have a great weekend!
