My lack of posts recently is due to the fact that I had the worst week ever. I know I usually write mostly about my accomplishments, making it (work-making clothes, running the business) look darn easy. However, it’s far from that. Besides the fact that it takes a lot of energy, it’s more than a full time job: when I have orders I have to finish, I really don’t sleep until they are ready and shipped.

I know it is not healthy. I know I should take care of myself. And I will. First I have to deal with everything that started going bad. It’s like when something bad/problems happen, worse things always follow. Frustration usually builds up from different situations that are harder to deal with when tired. Such as clients who did not pay or who pay a couple of weeks later, clients who are really hard to work with just because they don’t accept advice, or have silly ideas. And so on.

Made-to-measure work is a bitch! And most designers who are at the beginning of their career and/or build everything from scratch have to deal with it, just because that’s the only way to finance a new/the following collection. I have to do it, I do make dresses that I would never approve of them being in any of my collections (pattern, but mostly fabric-wise). Eventually business is business and it’s a big sacrifice one has to do so one can afford to express himself creatively. I can’t wait to be able to say ‘Please choose something from my latest collection only. Thank you!” without feeling sorry if I miss an order.

Until then, must keep head high and go back to work.
