Junya Watanabe fall/winter 2008 collection. (See full here.)

Last season, Junya Watanabe totally “made me want to randomly drape fabric around my body and just wear it with a blazer over. And during the day, go at to the ladies room and just randomly change the draping and the look of my “dress” (my favorites from the ss 08 collection here). There is something about this label that I always adore: the mood, the draping, the interesting headpieces. The clothes here transcend fashion and rather become works of art: modern sculptures of the human being, if you may.

“Junya Watanabe is less a man of few words than a man of two words: That’s all you’ll ever get out of him (if you’re lucky) after his shows. This season the words were “geometric sculpture”—but as gnomic as that sounds, the amazing collection of draped gray jersey he had assembled actually needs no further explanation.” Quote from style.com.

I need no further explanation. The presentation is amazing! The headpieces are uniquely artistic and truly interesting (it looks like a still life that I’d like to draw) and if you take the amazingly draped tops and dresses out of their context, you get wearable pieces of clothing that work even outside their presentation. I can easily see myself wearing each and every one of those jackets or skirts. There is a coolness about these pieces that is so close to my heart, so close I wish I had the guts to create such clothing! If only…
