I am home again, that means the sewing machine is my best friend. I really missed making clothes, I have lots of ideas and can’t wait to do everything I’m thinking of!!! I put so much energy and time into these sewing projects, but I don’t regret it, I’m having so much fun while doing it! So this is what I created today: my own “Marilyn dress”.

I had the most boring, plane tank with the most amazing print (a Warhol-esque portrait of Marilyn Monroe), so I chose to cut it in half and randomly tie knots on the upper part, and then create two dresses from it. This is the one with the eye part. Stay tuned for the lips!!

This skirt was actually harder to make, but I love the fact that it’s so versatile. I can wear it on the hips, high waisted and even as a dress. Not too short, not too long, just the right length for it to be wearable in so many ways!

How would you wear it?

Then I created this dress from the last piece of fabric with this print. It’s from those D&G fabrics I got from my aunt. I loved the fact that it wasn’t too shiny, just a bit to add the the right amount of glam to the tiny rose you can discover, if you look closely at the bust area! “Mini dress with a twist”, literally, because I twisted the fabric in many ways for it to create that “S”.

Well, now I need the event to wear it to, and maybe some thinner legs?

The thing it, when you cut the fabric, you have to make sure the upper part is wider than the lower, you you have enough fabric to twist and make some pleats: so in one part, the fabric is twisted back, in the interior of the dress, and in the other part the fabric is pleated. And then I attached a “home made” rose on the pleated part, to add some more detailing!
Hope you understood, I’m not quite familiar with sewing words in English:)

Great sense of style in that second skirt! There actually is embroidery on the back, isn’t it? I really like it, diana!
