In all the major cities, girls wear their skirts where grandma loves to see them: at the waist! And they wear them quite well, might I add. Credits: TheSartorialist, TheFaceHunter, Moderniteter.
However, in Romania, girls don’t quite accept the high waist. I remember when choosing clothes for Roxana’s Polaroid shots, she rolled her eyes when I showed her the cute b&w hounds-tooth printed, high waisted skirt. My sister doesn’t like them either and when walking on the streets I don’t really see young girls wearing high-waisted skirts (however, lots of them wear those short, low waist, denim, ruffled skirts, bleah!).
Anyway, here is my take on how to create your outfits using only high waisted skirt (and a random, black tank):
Black leather skirt: very now. Gray pleats and a bit of mustard yellow? Yum. I love wearing skirts high waisted, because it hides my big hips and makes the waist seem smaller, creating the hourglass shape. Real women know why they love skirts!
Simple and sleek color blocking: the mustard is stuck!
Layer the skirts as much as you can, to create a straight, simple yet strong silhouette:

Hai sub 20 de grade, haaai.. Aaa, nu stiu cum si de ce, dar chestia galben gri verde cu curele imi aduce aminte de silueta MJ. Ciudat.

cute outfits, i especially like the yellow and black ensemble. Here in San Antonio, Texas girls are not very fashion forward either. I mean they are stylish but it’s more of what the stores sell not really runway deal. I think it’s great that you wear what you like no matter what.

Mmm, I love those skirts. I’m so incredibly glad that high-waisted skirts are coming back — I’ve been wearing them for years as I never liked those low, ruffly things.
