<<”The paper-bag waist: Refreshingly loose, remarkably chic, this pleated pant looks right amongst falls layered, loose looks. When paired with a fitted top, it has a Katherine Hepburn-like quality to it, cinching in the waist with remarkable success. For narrow figures, it adds needed volume, while also giving fuller figures just enough leeway to keep things looking classy, not trashy. If anything, it has a no-fuss, relaxed quality about it that makes it highly desirable. Think Mariah Carey?s pink, spandex mini dresses. Got it? Then think of the complete opposite. Now you?ve got it.

I certainly am loving pleats and I finally sewed my own paper-bag waisted skirt.

Because it has such big volume, to balance it, I wore it with a simple, black tube top. Also, I think using more colors makes the skirt even more interesting. But how could I wear it only as a skirt? It’s versatile enough to be worn as a top too.

As a halter-neck top:

Or as a strapless top, flowy and breezy. I felt like a piece of wrapped candy while wearing it like this.

Also, I can wear it as a cape thing:

Isn’t the paper-bag waist wonderful? I think so.

Also, here are some looks I just spotted on the Sartorialist. See, worn with a simple, black tube top (or even with a bra), it looks amazing. I should make a pair of pants too!

The paper-bag waist on the runway:

It makes the model look a bit curvy, no? So if you are skinny and without a shape, the paper-bag waist is made for you. But I’m sure it works for most body shapes too.

Oh, I love that black tube top and khaki paper-bag waist skirt that The Sartorialist captured. It’s simple and chic, but very trendy. And I’m in love with lace-up wedges. I own two pairs of brightly colored lace-up espadrilles myself.
