Diamonds are too, I know. But for us mere mortals who don’t afford “diamonds”, a cute, new dress is Ok too.

These are the dresses I designed and sewed lately:

This fabric is actually from my aunt, who works in a clothing factory and helps in the process of making the clothes for designers such as D&G, Armani, H&M (yes, they are “Made in Romania” and it does sound better than “Made in China” which, everybody knows, means cheap) and so on. So whenever there are remaining pieces of fabric for workers to take home, she always thinks of me and grabs random pieces of fabric. I always enjoy them and always use them, as tiny as they might be sometimes. So, all this fabric for this bubble top/dress thing, actually comes from Dolce&Gabanna men’s shirts. Cool, huh? I couldn’t afford such quality fabric otherwise. That black thing underneath is a classic bubble skirt (so very easy to make).

Again, same fabric but a more girlie, naive feeling to a dress, for a classic summer feeling. I made that rose myself too, merely because I destroyed the fabric a bit while I was sewing it. Every problem has a solution and this actually made me think of a dress with more roses attached to the bodice. See how inspiration works?

These two dresses you’ve seen before, but I wanted to wear them again and take clearer pictures. My sister plans on wearing that purple dress next year at her prom, and I can see it styled in a more elegant way, however I love to wear it down, casual with neon leggings and a random hoodie. Works both ways.

Initially I thought of it as a top, but then I thought it would be great to attach that bubble skirt to it, to make a dress. And it worked. For some reason I really like the quirky feeling it has (for me).

A dress can be worn in so many ways, depending on the occasion. That’s why I love to create them as versatile as possible. Who knows, maybe someday I’ll have lots of cocktail parties to attend, at least I’ll have where to choose from.
